If you collect dolls and have wanted to save to get a silicone doll then that is great.
I owned a silicone once and loved her.
As we all know owning a silicone doll does take more looking after than the vinyl dolls.
But they can be more realistic.
Many collectors would love to own a silicone doll, but whether it is due to the cost or uncertainty of how to care for them they stop from buying.
With real silicone babies costing in the thousands, it is no wonder that people are cautious.
But it is true to say that the silicone material is not for everyone.
Unless you have felt it it is hard to explain.
In my own experience it can feel quite cold to the touch.
The silicone baby that I had was a lot heavier than my vinyl dolls.
Now for me this wasn’t an issue, but for some people that extra weight will be too much.
The silicone that is used can in time start to crack and tear, unlike vinyl dolls where you can in theory change an arm or a leg if it is damaged.
With a one piece silicone doll that is not possible.
As well as this a lot of silicone dolls are bald due to the difficilties in rooting.
Unlike vinyl kits it is not possible to glue the hair inside, which means that over time the hair will fall out.
What do you think of silicones, what you buy one?
What holds you back from getting one?
