When I first joined the reborn community I was surprised to find all the benefits that it gave me.
The obvious ones are of course the shopping and being surrounded by super cuteness and adorable items.
As a mum of five real children I found that reborns were a good way to help with my maternal instincts, which remained strong even when they had grown up.
My youngest now is 11 years old and my eldest is 20 now and now they have grown it was a huge relief to find this hobby.
The shopping part of this hobby is pretty self explanitory. It is a highlight of the hobby for me, which may explain how I have ended up with so much baby clothing.
As for the stress factor of a reborn I felt it needed some looking into.
So how I did this was simple, I took several situations in my life over the course of three weeks and noted the results.
So the first was waking up in the morning.
This is never a time that I enjoy, getting out of bed. So instead I had a baby close to me so that when I woke up I could hold it and cuddle for five minutes to see if this would improve my mood.
Now the outcome of this was I have to say mixed.
A couple of days I did get up after the cuddle and place the baby back in the cot, then begin my daily buisness.
But on a few of the days I have to admit to falling back to sleep whilst cuddling the baby.
So for the next situation I took a time when I felt mad and was very stressed.
I found this not very helpful for the most part.
Firstly I didn’t really have the drive to pick up a baby.
So I had to motivate myself into even picking one up.
But once the reborn baby was in my arms it helped to calm me down.
Now without sounding like a complete crazy lady, the rocking motion really helped and the calm that came over me from holding the baby and cuddling her.
So I think it was safe to say that really once I actually got the baby into my arms I was very happy it was there and that it did indeed calm me down and help to reduce my stress.
Have you had any instances where your reborns have helped to calm you down and reduce your stress?
We would love to hear it, please write yours in the comments below.
