The reborn community is growing, which most people would say is a good thing.
But is it really??
With the ever increasing number of people now collecting, it has created a growing number of kits to choose from.
But although having choice is a good thing, is it actually hindering reborn artists?
Now let me explain why…
With new kits coming out almost daily it increases peoples choice of both sculpt type and artist to create the baby.
The number of kits makes it harder I believe for the artist to get the price that they are really asking for their skills and baby.
Artist have to try and compete with other artists to make sales and to do this they have to keep the price of their babies at an absolute minimum.
Now I know that everyone likes a bargin, but your bargin will impact the artists life.
A true artist can take months over a baby to get them right, putting in hours and hours and painstaking labour, but it is a labour of love.
But a truly realistic reborn can take dedication from the artist, who has to purchase the supplies for the baby before even starting.
Some kits alone for example can cost close to £100 to just buy the kits.
Their is attention to detail that can not be overlooked or ignored.
As a result of this the artists ask what they feel is fair for their babies.
With so many kits now on the market that isn’t always possible to do.
If two artists have babies on sale from the same kit and their prices are a couple 100 different how many of us would purchase the more exspensive.
So this is something that I feel like we have to work on.
An artists price is what it is.
For a real reborn that looks super realistic it isn’t fair to the artist to think that you can get that quality of work cheaply.
So while it is great to have lots of choice with kits, it isn’t so great that some artists can feel swamped or pressured to sell their babies at almost cost.
So by all means enjoy your choice but please try not to let it hinder the artists and affect their own lifes by having to make almost no profit for their hours and hours of work.
